We pay respect to the traditional guardians of this land, the Algonquin people. We acknowledge that our classes take place on their territory which remains unceded.

Time is a gift that only you can unwrap.
— Ellen Bertrand

Busy lives. Achy bodies. Racing minds. Rarely enough time.

We’ve all been — and probably are still — there.

Yoga is an ancient system of philosophy and practice that helps us connect more deeply to ourselves and to community. In the ancient language of Sanskrit, “kāla” has many meanings, including “time” and in a modern context with Yoga Kāla, practicing yoga is a true gift of time.

Time to slow down the pace of life (even if just for an hour).

Time to care for the achy, stiff body.

Time to calm the racing mind.

Time to just be… be on your mat, be with your breath, be mindful of your body and be still.

Meet Ellen, Owner of Yoga Kāla

Ellen is an experienced yoga teacher whose mission is simple: offer yoga classes that leave students feeling better and more in tune with themselves. She founded Yoga Kāla in 2020 to inspire others to make time for themselves in a welcoming and caring community-focused approach.

Ellen has been a fitness leader for over 30 years, and has been teaching yoga since 2007. She raised three children while holding a full-time executive position, and knows first-hand the importance of finding time for yourself when juggling family, school, work, personal responsibilities and personal interests. Practicing and teaching yoga have helped her stay healthy, grounded and connected to community.

Ellen holds an E-RYT 200 designation with Yoga Alliance (over 1000 teaching hours) and is an accredited Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Ellen started her yoga teaching career focused on Hatha and Power Yoga. Thanks to continuous learning and certifications, she has expanded her interests and teaching repertoire to include yin yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, breathwork, philosophy and ethics, and restorative yoga. She is nearing completion of a 500-hour level yoga teacher training.

Ellen’s classes are well structured and creative. She offers clear instruction and many options so that your practice is truly your own.
